What can this guide help with?

This guide can help get you started with GoReact. GoReact is a video hosting tool that allows instructors and students to create video content anytime or anywhere using a computer webcam or a smartphone. You can create GoReact video assignments/assessments in your Blackboard Ultra course and provide feedback and grades on student videos directly in GoReact. Click the link below to learn more about the features and pedagogical applications of GoReact.

Creating a GoReact Assignment

There are three steps to creating a GoReact assignment in your course.

Step 1: Create the GoReact Assignment Link in Your Ultra Course

From the Course Content page of your course, position your mouse where you would like to add the assignment until you see the add content icon (i.e., plus sign inscribed in a circle). Click on the plus sign to open the add content menu. From the add content menu, select Content Market.

On the Content Market page, locate the GoReact tile and click on the plus sign inscribed in the circle. This creates the GoReact assignment item in the learning unit. *Please note that you must click on the plus sign inscribed in the circle or it will not work.

Step 2: Edit the GoReact Assignment Item Settings in Your Ultra Course

Once you have created the GoReact assignment item link, you must configure the GoReact assignment settings by clicking on the ellipsis on the far right of the GoReact Assignment item. Then select 'Edit' to open the GoReact assignment settings panel.

Configure the settings to your desired preferences and then click Save.

  1. Edit the title.
  2. Select the desired visibility setting.
  3. Enter the GoReact assignment description/instructions.
  4. Select 'Create gradebook entry for this item' if you want to include it in the gradebook calculations, and configure the additional gradebook settings (i.e., due date, time, grade type, and maximum points).
  5. Select the desired gradebook category for the GoReact assignment.
  6. Click Save to preserve your desired settings.

*Please note that you must select 'Create gradebook entry for this item' if you would like to include the GoReact Assignment in the course gradebook.

Step 3: Edit the GoReact Assignment Item Settings in GoReact

The final step is to configure the GoReact assignment settings in GoReact. Click on the GoReact assignment item link in the learning unit to launch GoReact. Once the GoReact LTI link launches, you will see three options for creating the assignment (blank assignment, previous assignment, or copy from template).

Click on the desired option, configure the assignment settings, and then click Done.

  1. Select the desired assignment type.
  2. Select the desired recording & feedback privacy setting.
  3. Select the desired grading & evaluation setting.
  4. Check the box next to setting options as desired.
  5. Expand and configure other settings as desired.
  6. Click Done to save your setting selections.

*Please note that you must use the same Grading & Evaluation settings (e.g. points) in GoReact that you configured in the GoReact assignment settings panel in Step 2. If the points don't match in Step 2 and Step 3, then any grading that occurs from within GoReact will not be reflected in the Ultra course gradebook.

GoReact and Group Assignments

While GoReact does support students recording as a group, GoReact does not support grade passback for these recordings. Any grade for a group recording will need to be manually transferred to the gradebook.
